Dominic’s Thoughts
My thoughts and experiences during the Principles of Awareness class in Spring 2016
Dominic Wörner

Things I noticed

  • 02/29 A sudden “moment of awareness” while walking through the Media Lab. I just experienced walking and breathing and it slowed me down.
  • 02/27 There is no better feeling than cold air and warm sunshine.
  • 02/22 It is much easier to talk about ideas of other people than about my own.

I started my 15 mins (almost) daily meditation sessions in the evenings before going to bed. I noticed that always one of two themes occur:
  1. I’m getting very sleepy and sitting upright becomes very uncomfortable
  2. My eyes become somehow restless, thoughts rush through my head, and when I’m finally calm I get bored.
In conclusion, meditating was rather uncomfortable.
A few days ago I wanted to change my routine to mornings but it turned out that I actually don’t like to start meditating in the mornings. After waking up I want to move.
So, the last two days I tried meditating sometime during the day. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed those two sessions. They felt relaxing and they were interesting. For example, I always try to concentrate on my breath for a while and one time I got distracted and when I refocused I noticed that I didn’t breath anymore. Weird but interesting.

Are you continuing? How are they evolving? Curious whether getting used to it during the day might help trying it in the morning or evening.
